Every year, cosmetics are enriched with new ingredients, some of which are really effective. This is the case of CBD , one of the main components of hemp, whose beneficial properties have convinced some of the world's leading cosmetic and pharmaceutical companies to introduce it into several high-quality products. As confirmed by dozens of scientific studies, CBD contains substances that can help the body regenerate more quickly; in addition, it has strong antibacterial and antiviral properties, so it is useful in dealing with a myriad of problems related to the skin.
CBD in the cosmetics industryBasically, the cosmetics industry uses cannabis by discarding THC and exploiting CBD (cannabidio
l), a component with relaxing and sedative effect, which is also used successfully in medicine. CBD is also particularly rich in linoleic acid and omega 3, 6 and 9 fatty acids , thanks to which it exerts an anti-inflammatory and antioxidant function.
As explained by Dr Adam Friedman, dermatologist at The Harley Street Clinic in London, "the human body has a natural biological affinity with the cannabis plant, which is able to reduce keratinocyte (skin cell) turnover, inflammation and sebum production". In short, we are talking about a real elixir of youth, whose functions are mainly explained by its high content of antioxidants, vitamins, minerals and omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids. In addition, its elasticising and emollient properties effectively prevent dehydration , favouring the creation of a protective barrier capable of safeguarding the skin. Being also a powerful anti-inflammatory, it is able to soothe irritations and redness.
Cosmetics withCBD oilCBD oil, or cannabidiol, boasts powerful moisturizing, antioxidant and anti-aging properties and can also be used as a sedative and relaxant, both in the form of oil and in other preparations.
These include face, hand and body creams, chapstick, shampoo and hair conditioner. The global cosmetics industry uses this precious substance mainly to exploit its anti-inflammatory properties, which make it a useful product in relieving inflammatory states of the skin , capable of causing or worsening conditions such as psoriasis, acne and eczema. In addition, the moisturizing and elasticizing properties of CBD oil have also proven useful in the treatment of expression lines. According to the latest Indica Sativa Trade in Bologna, the most important international trade fair dedicated to cannabis sativa, now in its seventh edition, the "New Hemp Economy" is a sector that is growing at a fast pace, driven by products based on CBD oil and hemp oil.
This growth is also evidenced by the tenfold increase of cultivated land in our country: from about 400 hectares in 2021, it has increased to almost 4000 in 2018Of course, all hemp cultivations in Italy are dedicated to innovative industrial and artisanal productions, which mostly include food, supplements and cosmetics.
